Someday I might write again
Someday I might write again. After putting the book together and dealing with my own essays, I'm sick of my writing. I sit down to write, recognize my style, and say, "Ugh, I hate that guy."
Seriously, life has been rather hard. Things happening I can't talk about. Too busy. Too hard to do three things. Web designer to make money, Covenant as a calling, and Real Live Preacher as a love. The last of these is suffering lately.

Dont worry Gordon. I know
Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 12/17/2009 - 17:28.Dont worry Gordon.
I know you are artistically frustrated, but dont let it get you down. You'll get your mojo back! We all love you no matter how you write.
I am sorry about the personal stuff. I will be praying for you and your family.
Not "might"...
Submitted by David Goldfarb on Thu, 12/17/2009 - 17:36.From my point of view, I'm pretty sure that's "will". Take a break, let your batteries recharge. We'll still be here.
and remember...
Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 12/17/2009 - 18:01...the readers will remain! We love you & love your writing. So sorry to hear about other things weighing upon you. May they lift soon. Blessings to you & your family during these hectic days.
The great thing about RSS readers...

Some times you just have to
Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 12/17/2009 - 19:13.Some times you just have to 'be there' for you...
go do it - love yourself !!!
unasked for advice and gratitude
Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 12/17/2009 - 19:21.I have never written a book. I have birthed 4 children. And if anyone had ever, seriously, asked me after one of those births when I would start getting busy on the next one well I would have ... well it wouldn't have been pretty.
It might be that you are feeling a bit empty creatively speaking. Enjoy it, roll around it, discover the edges to that emptiness, do not shy away from it.
You will, it will refill. I know.
In the meantime; hug your wife (and thank her for me would you?), spend time with your children when you can, love your congregation.
And thank you.
I'm sorry
Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 12/17/2009 - 19:25.I'm sorry ... sorry that life has been hard and too busy.
Sorry that you are frustrated and feel torn.
Grieve for your disappointments ... they are real.
Hope for tomorrow ... "this too will pass" (gosh, I'm now quoting my mom)
Breathe deeply ... you will survive.
Thanks

I know the feeling. Haven't
Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 12/18/2009 - 11:06.I know the feeling. Haven't written a decent story myself in over a year because life has me by the throat right now.
I do believe, however, that the most important things we are supposed to write need to stew a good while before they are set out. Perhaps you're just in the stewing phase.
And I believe that those of us who write have a more difficult time with life crap if not dealt more than our share of life crap because of our thin filters.
You'll write again. Because you'll breathe again.
Prayers for the unbloggables.

Discontent.
Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 12/22/2009 - 07:15.I don't like the way my voice sounds when I hear it played back. It makes me not want to talk. I have to ignore it and look at the fact that people respond to my words.
You have a voice when you write, as well, and it's what you say with that voice that makes the difference.
A photographer has a style, too. They might play with it and try to expand it, but their goal will ultimately be to capture memories, beauty, stories, and various other transcendent pieces of life with their eyes and their tools and, yes, their style.
Whatever personal struggles you are fighting are yours, and you have my prayers. I would offer more if I thought I had more to offer without being pretentious. I believe, when I picture your church from your writing, that your local support system has you covered when it comes to that, anyway.
So, I only hope, being a receiver of your voice, that when disliking your voice becomes your final hurdle to writing, you will turn of the damn recorder so we can all participate in your memories, your snapshots of beauty, and the various other transcendencies you come across.
Thanks
Submitted by Anonymous on Wed, 12/23/2009 - 10:41.Merry Christmas and greetings from Denmark. I hope you'll find strength and inspiration to write for the website again, since I would miss your written voice very much, but even if you decide to focus elsewhere, please know that your writings have helped me and I'm sure many others through difficult times. You're a good man, and you inspire the rest of us to be better people too.

Normal reaction
Submitted by Anonymous on Wed, 12/30/2009 - 19:25.I just read your most recent blogs. Good grief, man. I have worked with kids in psych units. Loved them. Don't know if my heart could stand the pain of parenting such beautiful talented kids. Amazing artists.
Then the roller coaster of final birth pains of new book. You promised it by Christmas! What were you thinking?
Forty cranes too?
Seems to me you are having a normal reaction to emotional, physical, spiritual exhaustion. Damn, this being only human is tuff stuff.
Peace out. You are loved in heaven and on earth. Get out of town for a few days, see if the world will continue to spin on its axis. The ones you love may just appreciate your trusting them to keep it together w/o you for a few days. Their gift to you.
I look forward to checking in here and seeing nothing new for a while. :)
